Welcome to this issue of Ask The Computer Lady!

A few weeks ago, I found a great deal on a 20 inch widescreen monitor! It is great having a little more real estate on my desktop, and I love the crisp, clear picture. Researching and writing are so much easier when I can have two windows side by side.

Dear Computer Lady,

I’m writing a novel and want to save it chapter by chapter and as a whole piece as I move along. 

I don’t want to have to scroll through 14 chapters, for example, to get to chapter 15 on which I am working. But I do want the entire work in one piece when I get to the first complete revision. 

Where is the best place to save this stuff and how do I do it? I work with Microsoft Word in Windows 98.

Dear Computer Lady, 

I love reading your newsletters. I am always so anxious waiting for your next letter to come. 

I have a question. I was trying to make some room on my computer and was deleting cookies and temp. internet files. 

Is it safe to delete everything in your C:\Windows\Temp folder? Some of the items there are years old and some are a few days old.

WordWeb Free for Windows 95/98/2000/NT/Me/XP/Vista

Free Thesaurus and Dictionary

One of the freeware programs that I use quite often is WordWeb. A nice little dictionary program. I used it to figure out the correct spelling of several words in this week’s issue. WordWeb has definitions, synonyms, related words and if you want it will install an icon of itself in MS Word.
