Dear Computer Lady,
Thank you for the wonderful service you provide. I have been using the two sites you suggested for free Kindle books and found some great reading material.
However, recently my Kindle has been stuck in the sleep mode. I cannot access the menu or any other feature. It just flashes from one sleep page to another.
Any suggestions for how to correct, or have I just fried it from leaving it plugged in too long?
I’m guessing that you are using either a Kindle 2 or 3 and not a Kindle Fire.
Have you tried resetting your Kindle?
All you have to do is hold down the power button located next to the headphone jack for 15 seconds and your kindle will restart.
Make sure you hold it down the full 15 seconds, it will seem like a long time, so make sure hold it down long enough.
This has solved the problem for me on the rare occasion when I have had Kindle problems.
If you have the original Kindle, resetting it a bit harder, you have to take the back cover off and use a paper clip to press the reset button.
If this doesn’t work, try contacting Amazon’s Kindle support and see what they have to say.
It’s Your Turn: What do you think?
