In response to your request about copying the part that Hugh wants:
 
I would copy and paste the piece that I want to save;  paste it into a Word document, then print it from there.
 
Do you have a better suggestion? I should be interested to know what it is too!  That one has worked well for me!

Dear Julie,

Your solution is a great one, and you are using programs that you already have installed on your computer.

My solution is a little bit different, but it works best for me.

I have a program on my computer called ClipMate which automatically saves everything I copy in a list.

When I want to save parts of an article, I copy each part one at a time. Then, I open ClipMate and select the different clips that I have copied.

With the multiple clips selected, I click on the “glue” button which combines the clips. I can now, either print, or save the parts of the newsletter that I want.

Welcome to this issue of Ask The Computer Lady!

A few weeks ago, I did some work on my main computer, and then put all my work files back on it and got back to work. I did not make any changes to it that I was aware of, but last week I began to hear that I had made a change. Here are a couple of the messages  that I received:

I have loved and been helped more times than I could tell you by your great newsletter!

However,  the new fonts  (Courier New  12 you use for the past few weeks, are really hard to read and for those of us with vision problems, even more so. I imagine if anyone wants to print them off, they would print very light too. I already have my PC set up with larger fonts, so it’s not that. (can’t imagine how it would be for folks that don’t know how to make those changes. Hope you get to read this and consider it.)

You are such a blessing and I am glad you are getting help with your knees.

oh boy sense you changed your font to arial… I have a big problem with reading your news letter and dearly love it.. I have to change it to a font I can see to read and send it to myself.. please please go back to the font you were using before this one…

As you can see from the two messages, I had changed something, but each writer saw a different font. I looked back at my settings and found that when I set Outlook back up, I did not change my outgoing messages from HTML to Plain Text. I made that change, and hopefully, everyone is able to read the messages better.

I love your newsletter. You make things very easy to understand. Brief to the point and simple! I have passed it on to so many of my friends.

You always rave about Vista. Every single one of my friends that has Vista has had many, many problems with it and hate it. It’s not just a few people either, it’s several. Lots of them.

I would like a new computer but I won’t get one until I’m forced to because it only comes with Vista. I shudder every time I think about having to have it. Dear Computer Lady,

I’m writing a novel and want to save it chapter by chapter and as a whole piece as I move along. 

I don’t want to have to scroll through 14 chapters, for example, to get to chapter 15 on which I am working. But I do want the entire work in one piece when I get to the first complete revision. 

Where is the best place to save this stuff and how do I do it? I work with Microsoft Word in Windows 98.

I have a question. I was trying to make some room on my computer and was deleting cookies and temp. internet files. 

Is it safe to delete everything in your C:\Windows\Temp folder? Some of the items there are years old and some are a few days old.

WordWeb Free for Windows 95/98/2000/NT/Me/XP/Vista

Free Thesaurus and Dictionary

One of the freeware programs that I use quite often is WordWeb. A nice little dictionary program. I used it to figure out the correct spelling of several words in this week’s issue. WordWeb has definitions, synonyms, related words and if you want it will install an icon of itself in MS Word.
