Dear Computer Lady,

In the current newsletter Don wrote he could not access his mail in Windows Mail. You suggested other E-mail programs. Since he is using att.my.yahoo.com as his homepage, why not just use Yahoo mail as his E-mail. I started using Yahoo for my E-mail when I switched from MSN to Yahoo for my homepage 5 years ago, when I got DSL from ATT, and have not had any problem with it.

Sincerely,
Ken in San Jose

Abine has a privacy protection service called "Delete Me" which will remove your name and private info from most online information gathering sites. They are thorough and provide updates and reports on their cleanups. Check Abine's website for more info.

I may be misunderstanding, but I suspect that Flo is referring to the drop-down history that appears under the Google search slot when she starts to type something in again that begins with the first letter of her name or the question that she wants to eliminate. If that is true, Flo, just right click on your Internet Explorer shortcut on the desktop, choose Properties and click to delete your browsing history. Note: This history only appears in the memory of your own computer, Flo, not on the Internet for others to see.

I have learned so much from you over the years. Thank you.
I'm happy to share something that I discovered about putting shortcuts on the desktop. You can just drag them from your bookmarks, and they will be copied to the desktop. It works with IE, Google and Firefox.
Also, you can create a folder(s) on the desktop and drag the shortcuts into it (them).
I hope all are enjoying Mother's day.

I believe that if this is happening through an internet mail account, like Hotmail, etc., then all you would need to do is just change your password.

Sorry if my english is not too correct, but I'm learning this language and my level is low. I hope to make me understand.

I'm not using Windows 7, but I think that it contains a 'compatibility mode' that allow to run some programs for previous versions. For example, I'm using Windows XP and I continue using some programs for Windows 95 using this method (the method, if exists, can be different for Windows 7):

Right-Click on the EXE file for the program; click "Properties", then the "Compatibility" tab, and select "Run this program in Compatibility Mode" and select the correct OS. Then, try to run the program.

If this suggestion do not work, I use also another trick for important programs that do not contains a version for the new OS: a "emulator" or "virtual machine" (example of virtual machine is Vmware Player). You can to find the Vmware player searching on the net, and also you can fo find for a OS adequate (Windows XP in your case). The virtual machine runs a packaged version of some OS (linux, Windows XP, etc.) and enable to install/run on their environment some programs. Another use for the virtual machine is try/evaluate some programs without messing/corrupt my installation.

I can't to give aditional details because I do not know Windows 7; perhaps someone can to confirm this or give a more detailed explanation.

For Edna whose 4 card keno game doesn't work with Windows 7. Seems to me the easiest solution is to upgrade the card game. Possibly the one she uses now offers a Win7-compatible version. Certainly someone out there must.

Elizabeth,

I've been a subscriber for pretty much of a decade, and the tip you gave on copying a flash drive to a CD-RW was the best yet! I forgot I had a few unused DVD-RW's in a drawer, and following your instructions I now have a full backup of a very valuable flash drive. Thanks!

I've also been a long time juno user. I primarily use juno off my pc. I also get my juno email off my iphone, however, if I delete a msg. off my iphone, it does not delete it off my pc. If I obtain my juno email off the web, it will delete off my pc. I understand it is because juno is "pop" and not "imap" email.

Does juno have a imap setting? If so, what is it? My time is not efficient to delete off my iphone and then have to go home and delete it again off my pc.

If juno doesn't have a imap setting, any ideas to accomplish what I want?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
